Changing DNS Registrar

My domain name is up for renewal next month, and I plan on changing the
registrar. It's currently Go Daddy. I host my own DNS primary with a
former ISP providing the secondary. I like this arrangement because I
can tweak my DNS records locally and not have to deal with the
limitations and hassle of a registrars web-site. I have a static and a
dynamic IP addresses.

My short list of new registrars:

 - Gandi: based in France; they contribute to EFF
 - Hover: based in Canada; subsidiary of Tu Cows
 - NameCheap: based in USA; whois says in Panama

Anyone have experience with any of these and can recommend or advise
against them? Are there other registrars I should consider?
