CINLUG, the Central Indiana Linux Users' Group, a not-for-profit group
of Linux experts and enthusiasts, is hosting its second annual Linux Boot
Camp. Starting this year, the Boot Camp is being divided into a Spring
Boot Camp (with a Desktop Linux focus) and a Fall Boot Camp (with a
server focus).
The Spring Boot Camp will be held on two consecutive Saturdays:
April 30, and May 7, from 9 am to 3 pm in facilities provided by Virtual
Scavengers, Inc. Virtual Scavengers is a not-for-profit community based
organization that recycles used computers and provides training and jobs to
veterans. They are located at 754 North Sherman Drive, Suite 216,
Indianapolis. Details about the Fall Boot Camp will be announced at a
later date.
CINLUG has hosted many one-day training sessions in the past called
Installfests. The Boot Camp format is intended to provide more time for
Linux newbies to grasp the fundamentals of this new operating system.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own PC. The course will include
instructions on how to install and operate Linux on a network with an
emphasis on common desktop functions (web browsing, e-mail, office
suites, etc.).
The cost is only $50 and will cover the cost of the free Ubuntu Linux
distribution on CD, handout materials and use of a monitor and other
facilities at Virtual Scavengers.
Space is limited to 16 participants. For more information and to
register, visit www.cinlug.org/bootcamp
