Bloomington Linux Users Group is proud to present:

              Linux gaming/LAN party 2005

Tell your friends! Tell your parents! Tell your bosses! Tell your
teachers!

For those of you who haven't seen the announcement on the BLUG website
(www.bloomingtonlinux.org), there will be a 9 hour Linux-only LAN/Gaming
party on Saturday, April 23rd from 11am til 8pm. The event will be
held in the suso.org conference room suite 008 in Fountain Square Mall.
Directions are at the end of this email.

There will be 3 Linux computers for sure there, networked together and
all running with hardware 3d acceleration. I'd like to have 5 to 7
systems total there though so if you have a decent machine for gaming
with a 3d card that can run under Linux, I'd really appretiate it if you
could bring it. Laptops are welcome too. Please email
Mark Krenz <mark at slugbug.org> to let him know if you plan on bringing
your machine.

If you just want to come and spectate, that is ok too. Actually, let
Mark know if you plan on coming at all because there will be
refreshments, pizza and prizes. People should be able to all take turns
playing.

Games will include the following network games:

         Armagetron
         BZFlag
         Tux Racer
         Legends
         TORCS
         Battle for Wesnoth
         Glest
         Gate 88
         Globulation 2
         Scorched 3D
         netPanzer
         Mistlands
         Fight Win Prevail
         Cube
         Cannon Smash
         Tornado
(ascii-multiplayer-destroy-your-neighbors-house-with-weather game)

         Unreal Tournament 2004
         Neverwinter Nights
Doom III (if anyone has it, I don't own a copy)

         and more..

Check out http://www.happypenguin.org/ for details and screenshots of
these games. BLUG might also be able to demonstrate Cedega Wine playing
some Windows games natively in Linux.

Even if you are not much of a game player, you won't want to miss this
event because it will really show how far Linux has come in the past few
years. Besides, its a great chance to have a lot of fun with your
friends in BLUG.

You don't want to miss this because it will be the first even of its
kind in the region. And maybe one of the only Linux-only gaming fests
in the country.

Fountain Square Mall is on the south side of 5th St/Kirkwood Ave on the
downtown square. Its inbetween College Ave. and Walnut St. If you park
on the square, you basically go in the door with the green awning
overhead that says "Fountain Square Mall" and then go back to the red
payphone inside. At the payphone, turn right and go down the stairs.
There will be a door for Suso Technology Services in front of you, go to
the right and the conference room is the next door down, Suite 008. I
might be able to have some signs showing the way on the day of the
event.
