Thanks, Terry! Although Terry is willing to cover the cost of a
few months, I hope the CINLUG board votes to reimburse him during this
experiment.
I agree that Meetup.com is a great way to advertise and it is a
good idea to test it. I guess we'll see if it brings in enough (paying?)
members to justify the $9.99/month ($119.88/year) cost. (That'd be 4
paid CINLUG memberships.)
I assume we are just looking to use Meetup.com for disseminating
our meeting schedule and website address. We're not looking to also use
all the other functions (discussion area, file share area, etc.) that
Meetup.com offers, are we?
Although those are great features, I see some of them as duplicates
of what we already have at the cinlug.org domain. I don't know about
you all, but I'd rather not have another site I have to monitor for
postings & news -- especially seeing how little those features are used
in some of my other Meetup.com groups.
I know we have these mailing lists (my preference), the cinlug.org
forums, Facebook and, I believe, Google Groups. These mailing lists are
often pretty quiet. Do we get more interaction with members and the
public through the other methods? I'm just curious.
Thanks again, Terry!
