[Announce] November 2025 CINLUG Meeting -- How Open Source Transformed 3D Printing

Do you know of the profound impact that Open Source Software has had on the 3D printing industry?

Chen Lee Chiu[1] will take us on an exploration of how open source contributions have been instrumental in the widespread availability and affordability of consumer-grade 3D printers.  His talk will trace the journey from the early days of 3D printing, highlighting key milestones and the evolution of these devices.  He'll also briefly discuss the historical patent wars that stifled innovation by major corporations.

All this... at Central Indiana Linux User Group's Wednesday, November 5th meeting!  The meeting starts at 18:30 (6:30 PM) EST.


CINLUG thanks Moser Consulting[2] for hosting our meetings at their facility[3].  (There will be a phone number at the entrance to call to be let into the building.)  The meeting will be simultaneously broadcast over this Jitsi Meet URL[4] for those who cannot attend in person.  (Though in-person attendance is encouraged.  *After the meeting, we plan to go to the nearby Red Robin restaurant for drinks and camaraderie!  Plan to `make it a night`!*)


CINLUG meetings are the 1st Wednesday of every month, so please block that night off in your calendar to keep it available.  (We have upcoming presentations on Btrfs and Home Assistant.)     Intelligence team at Red Hat.  He supports four Red Hat AI
    products:  Red Hat AI Inference Server AI, Red Hat OpenShift AI,
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
    Lightspeed.  He also manages the Raleigh, NC Red Hat 3D Print Lab.
    Chen's journey with GNU/Linux began at the age of 8, and he has
    been a strong advocate and user of open source technology for
    multiple years.
