Over the past few years, you likely have heard buzz around Nix and NixOS[1], but what are they, really? What's the difference between them? Why is everyone making such a fuss about them?
Ersei Saggi[2] will describe what Nix and NixOS are, what a "flake" is, and why you should even care. Come join us at the September Central INdiana Linux User Group (CINLUG) meeting to hear!
The meeting will begin at 18:30 (6:30 PM) EDT on Wednesday, September 4th.
CINLUG thanks Moser Consulting[3] for hosting our meetings at their facility[4]. (There will be a phone number at the entrance to call to be let into the building.) The meeting will be simultaneously broadcast over this Jitsi Meet URL[5] for those who cannot attend in person. (Though in-person attendance is encouraged.)
CINLUG meetings are the 1st Wednesday of every month, so please block that night off in your calendar to keep it available! *Tentative* upcoming topics are:
October: Cluster High Availability
November: Godot Engine Video Game Development
Sometime this winter:
RHELevant Security Practices
Defend Yourself With Red Hat Security

[2] Ersei is a junior at Purdue University studying computer science
and has enjoyed using Nix and NixOS for nearly a year. Ersei's
free time is spent writing on their website (https://ersei.net/)
and going for a run... usually not at the same time. :-)
