Registration [1] is now open for the third annual Indiana LinuxFest,
scheduled for late July, and will do its best to "Make it Free."
The Wyndham Indianapolis West Hotel will once again be the host of the
event, which will be the weekend of July 26-28, 2013.
The Indiana LinuxFest is about community, information, and friends, and
strives to bring the free and open-source software community together
for more than just information gathering. It will be a place for people
to network, communicate, and have a good time.
In the context of free and open-source software, "free" refers to the
freedom to copy, re-use and change the software, rather than change the
price of the software. This is an alternative to the traditional "closed
source" or "proprietary" software model.
The first two years of the Indiana LinuxFest had more than 200 attendees
and more than two dozen speakers each. This year, organizers are looking
to make the event even bigger.
Friday, July 26 will have the professional talks, as well as
certification training.
Saturday, July 27, will have talks for beginners through experts, as
well as vendor booths. The Hackerspace, which was a popular feature last
year, will also be Saturday. The day's events will kick-off with the
opening keynote by Deb Nicholson, Community Outreach Director at the
Open Invention Network.
Sunday, July 28, will have certification testing.
Registration for Indiana LinuxFest is free, but there will be an
optional supporter package available, which will include an event
t-shirt and boxed lunch on Saturday.
The one thing that would make the 2013 Indiana LinuxFest better... is
you.
Organizers are actively seeking sponsors. There are a variety of
sponsorship levels available, from getting your company name on the
event down to getting an insert into the swag bag that is handed out to
attendees.
