Note that the July meeting of CINLUG is being held on the *second*
*Tuesday* of the month due to the unavailability of the meeting room on

The July meeting of CINLUG, the Central Indiana Linux Users' Group,
is scheduled for 6:30PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. The meeting is
being held at the Glendale Mall branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County
Public Library (IMCPL) - 6101 N. Keystone Avenue, Indianapolis, IN

Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting. Adam Brand will be giving a
presentation on XBMC.

Adam Brand is a principal, application developer, and chief designer at
Marketpath, LLC, an Indianapolis based vendor of web development and
content management solutions.

He is the son of Kim Brand, fellow CINLUG member. Adam was involved
with his dad in initial implementations of Samba + Linux which
ultimately led to the development of FileEngine. He is an accomplished
ASP/.Net/SQL and XHTML developer. He is a clever young man with a great
deal of technology experience.

He is also unafraid of a challenge so he decided to build a new home
media server using Ubuntu and an open-source package called XBMC that
can replace similar funcions of the original Xbox. XBMC is an award
winning media center application for Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, and Xbox.

Adam's story reveals some of the frustrations, missteps and
misunderstandings that a tech-savvy, FLOSS newbie experiences as they
attempt to navigate the non-Microsoft world.

His presentation will remind us all what we had to learn to become
productive with Linux and will be especially interesting to new users.
Invite a non-Linux geek and share the joy of Open Source!
